Bring your own adventure toy and explore Lahar Farm
Open - To visitors who are staying at Lahar Farm and Lodge
Tariff $50 per vehicle
$10 per mountain bike
Type of terrain
The farm is easy to drive or bike around in the summer months when it is
dry, road tyres are suitable. For the winter you will need some basic 4WD
knowledge plus 'all terrain' style tyres that give you better grip. Gentle
slopes meet a raised plateau, an ancient lava flow, with a 50 metre hill
climb, then it’s easy going rolling terrain.
Before you begin your self guide tour you will need to book in with us here at the homestead and we will assess your 4WD vehicle and driving confidence. We will also advise bikers and drivers on the best way to get around and how to avoid anything that may be difficult at the time, to ensure your journey is safe and easy.
The informative direction and commentary card you take with you on your journey explains features of the Ruapehu area, land use both past and present and of course directions as you follow the numbered gates around the farm. The Lahar farm map shows you the way and we also supply a hand held radio for you to call us here at base if you have any troubles.
